How to pitch brands as an influencer: email and DM templates that work
Find the right brands, find a real email, and write a short pitch that gets replies. With copy-and-edit templates for email, DM and follow-up.
A good pitch is short, specific and about the brand, not about you. Here’s how to find brands worth pitching and what to write.
Who to pitch
- Brands you already use and like: your enthusiasm will show.
- Brands your audience already buys: check your comments and DMs for product questions.
- D2C brands that already work with creators your size (look at tagged posts on their Instagram).
- Local businesses in your city for food, fitness, fashion and events.
Find the right email
Look for a marketing, partnerships or PR email on the brand’s website (often in the footer, the contact page or the “about” page). A real inbox beats a DM to a busy brand account. If there’s only a generic email, use it and put “Creator collaboration” in the subject.
What a pitch should say
- One line on who you are and who follows you.
- Why this brand, in a way that shows you know it.
- One concrete content idea.
- One or two numbers (average views, audience in their city).
- Your link, and a simple ask.
Email template
Subject: Reel idea for [Brand] (skincare for humid weather) Hi [Name], I’m [Your name], a Bengaluru creator making skincare reels for women 22–35 ([handle], about [X] views a reel, most of my audience in South India). I’ve used [product] through two monsoons, and my followers keep asking what I use. I’d love to make a 30-second reel: “3 steps for skin that survives the Bengaluru rain”, with [product] as step two. My page has my packages, live stats and past work: [your link] Would you be open to a collab this month? [Your name]
DM template
Hi [Brand]! I’m [name], I make [niche] reels for [audience] (~[X] views a reel). I love [product] and have an idea for a reel around [idea]. Could you share the right email for collaborations? My packages and stats: [link]
Follow-up (5–7 days later)
Hi [Name], just bringing this to the top of your inbox. Happy to adjust the idea to what you’re launching next. [link]
Send one follow-up, not five. If there’s no reply, move on and try again in a few months with a new idea.
Mistakes that get pitches ignored
- Copy-pasting the same message to fifty brands.
- Leading with your follower count instead of an idea.
- Attaching a heavy PDF instead of a link.
- Asking “what’s your budget?” before showing what you’d make.
- Pitching a brand you’d never post about.
Miracle’s pitch autopilot does the finding and writing for you each morning, using only public business emails, and follows up once.
Questions
Is it okay to pitch brands by DM?
Yes, but brand DMs are crowded. Use the DM to ask for the right email, then send a proper pitch there.
How many brands should I pitch?
A few good, specific pitches a week beat many generic ones. Track who you pitched so you never pitch twice.
Should I mention my rates in the first pitch?
Link to your page with packages; let the conversation start with the idea.
