How to find the right influencers in India for your brand
A guide for Indian brands: where to find creators, how to check their audience is real, what to pay, how to brief them and how to measure results, without paying an agency cut.
The right creator for your brand is the one whose audience buys what you sell, not the one with the most followers. Here’s how to find them and work with them well.
Where to look
- Your own tagged posts and comments: customers who already create.
- Instagram search by niche and city keywords.
- Creator directories, like Miracle’s creator directory, filtered by niche and city.
- Creators your competitors work with (their tagged posts).
Check the audience is real
- Reach vs followers: a typical post should reach a healthy share of followers (around 10% or more is normal).
- Engagement for their size: smaller accounts usually engage more; very high numbers on big accounts can mean giveaways or engagement groups.
- Steady growth: sudden follower jumps without a viral post are a warning sign.
- Audience location: for an Indian brand, most of the audience should be in India.
- Comments: real conversation, not just emojis.
Miracle shows an audience health score for connected creators (real reach, engagement for size, steady growth, audience in India) and an AI read of recent captions for brand-safety notes.
What to pay
Pay for views and fit, not followers. Ask for average reel views and audience breakdowns, and expect to pay more for usage rights (running their content as ads) and exclusivity. Creators’ own rate guide shows how many price.
Write a brief creators love
- The goal (awareness, sales, app installs) and the audience.
- The product and the one thing to get across.
- What you need (format, length, dates) and what’s up to them.
- Must-haves and must-nots (claims you can and can’t make, competitors).
- Usage rights, payment terms and how results will be measured.
Measure results
- Views, reach, saves and shares from Instagram’s own numbers (ask for a report, not screenshots).
- A promo code or link per creator for sales.
- Cost per view and cost per sale, by creator, to decide who to book again.
Agency, marketplace or direct?
Agencies and marketplaces save time but usually take a cut of each deal. Working direct keeps the whole budget for creators. Tools like Miracle let you discover creators, send briefs, approve drafts and pay creators directly, with no commission.
Questions
How do I know if an influencer has fake followers?
Compare reach and engagement to their size, look for sudden follower jumps, check where their audience is, and read the comments.
Nano, micro or macro influencers?
Nano and micro creators (up to 1 lakh followers) often give better engagement and cost per result; macro creators give reach. Many brands mix both.
Do I need a contract with an influencer?
Yes, at least a written agreement on what’s made, dates, usage rights, exclusivity and payment.
